| What happens when you combine energy, talent, chemistry, and great music? Magic! That's what The Johnny Dollar Band creates every time they take the stage. Their show takes audiences back to a time when bands went all out to please the crowd and held nothing back. When you leave a Johnny Dollar show, you know you have witnessed something special. The electricity in the air before the band starts a performance only increases throughout the night and doesn't dissipate until the show is over. Even then, it's hard not to feel a lingering sense of excitement and the anticipation of seeing Johnny Dollar again. One of the biggest reasons the band is so well received is the music they perform. Their show covers six decades of music! Rhythm & blues, beach music, soul, rock & roll, funk, disco, blues and more are all represented in fine fashion . The band moves from one style to the next seamlessly. Too often, bands of today sound like modern groups trying to play songs from the past. Unlike many bands out there, Johnny Dollar is AUTHENTIC. They have the original sound and feel of the music they play. The only exception is that they add the quality of a state-of-the-art sound system. Johnny Dollar consists of six performers, four of whom sing. The instruments on stage include drums, bass, keyboard, guitar, trombone, and saxophone. Yes...LIVE horns! In fact, it's all live. There is no pre-recorded, computerized "band-in-a-box". This is the real thing. Vocally, Johnny Dollar covers the full range from deep bass to soaring tenor, including some very smooth falsetto and harmony that would've made the doo wop groups of the '50s envious. Between the four lead singers, an enormous variety of vocal styles are covered. It's easy to hear the rich histories of soul, rock & roll, beach music, blues, Motown, and more flowing through these young men. As instrumentalists, the band constantly amazes audiences with the prowess they exhibit, both as a unit and individually. The solos are tasteful and played with the expertise of seasoned veterans, but have the excitement and energy found in young players. A strong, danceable groove is one of the band's greatest assets and it's present no matter what musical style they're playing. One word has been used repeatedly to describe the rhythmic aspect Johnny Dollar's sound: TIGHT. Quit While You're a Head is the band's debut CD. Several songs received significant play both in clubs and on the radio. But, "24-7 Man" and "Windows" are the stand-outs, gaining recognition as charted hits. A second CD "A Place Nobody can Find" was released in summer 2004. Johnny Dollar is constantly writing and developing new material. Johnny Dollar expertly entertains audiences at clubs, festivals, and private parties throughout the southeastern United States and electrifies the crowd at every show. The band is now taking their show into new regions and reaching more people every day. Their performance captivates people of all ages and walks of life. Whatever the venue, audience, or event, this group is the right one. Every time Johnny Dollar hits the stage, they deliver great music and showmanship. But, most importantly, they always deliver a good time! |
